Black Canyon NP
Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Colorado
Posted By: slowpez, 12-19-2015, 08:43 AM

Middle of the day makes for horrible photos but Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a beautiful place. We drove down into the canyon for the first time this trip. The NP service makes the road sound very dangerous but, outside of being steep and having some switchbacks, it wasn't bad at all.

What a beautiful place! I was there when I was a boy back in the late '50s or during the '60s (we made several trips to Colorado over the years). Anyway, while I don't remember when I was there, I do remember it was a very cool place.

Nicely done, as always, Susan.

Thanks to you both. Not the best photos from our trip but it was a part of it so must be included.

Well named indeed, first image looks to be super sharp too, just like the rock formations themselves.

very nice set - some of you images have a medium format quality although you shoot with the K3.

Really nice! My family would camp there when I was a kid, back in the late 60's. Thanks for renewing some great memories!

I love the Black Canyon. Sapinero, Lake City, Montrose. My wife's great-great-grandfather was one of the first Europeans to see it. A pioneer settler of Lake City and multiple mine owner.

We talk of moving to Montrose every time we visit the area. Too old now though.
