These are beautiful birds, but don't usually stick around long enough for me to point the right lens at them. Not perfect, but I got a shot of this one at least today.

They can be shy, for sure. If you stay still for a while they'll get used to you. They're great subjects, such cool birds.

We get mostly the yellow shafted variety here so it is nice to see the red shafted ones.
