Not much luck hiking today ...
Lens: DA 4/60-250 & $/16-45 Camera: K3 Photo Location: Harz Mountain area

I had planned to hike along a small river with some nice rapids and waterfalls, located in the Harz Mountain area.
But I could only make it less than halfway up to the highest point of this area (called "Brocken").
We've had a mix of snow and frost than heavy icy rain in the last few days and the trail was basically covered with thick ice.

The first picture will give you an idea about the conditions

With these conditions it was impossible to get to my favourite places. I don't like to climb over fully iced rocks with a heavy backpack full of camera and lenses and a solid tripod.

Nevertheless it was nice to be out for a few hours and at least I could play with some ND filters.

You did well. I particularly like the first three of the ice formations!

Yikes, my least-favorite trail conditions--especially now that Father Time has eroded whatever cat-like reflexes I might have had. Makes for great photos, though, as your thread attests.

The second one is a stunner. You sir, deserve a medal for attempting to hike in that slippery stuff.

I'd be happy to have the opportunity to go out and such such photos. I especially like 2 & 3.

HI Norbert, very nice images, love the first one. In conditions like that I wouldn't even try a hike anymore, glad that you did.

Thanks Susan, that would probably be the "most stupid hike of the year" medal, right

Thanks for taking the time to comment Heinrich! It only shows that you are a much wiser man than I am
