Those are beautiful photographs. Sorry for my ignorance, but how many times do this occur each year and where can it be spot at?

If I remember right Stickl is located in Oulu, beginning of Lapland. Lapland is the northern part of Finland and there the auroras are quite prone.

Interestingly, there has been more auroras this year. Even in the middle west coast of Finland where I live. -34C, I will not even think about a camera.

I wonder though, at f1.8 with 6s how did you get trees still and greater DOF.

Oikien hienot kuvat.

Very interesting. Usually we see little of the foreground. The moonlight gives a very different perspective.

Wow great shots.
I doubt if I would leave the warmth of the house to go out in -34C for some pictures.

Thank you very much!! I appreciate your feedback.

And LeDave: don't feel sorry at all cuz that's good question: Here where I live (close the arctict circle) you can see northern lights maybe ten nights in a month - from middle August to the beginning of the may (can't see at all during may to july cuz it's summer and daylight lasting like 20hours in a day). But that's just without thinking is it cloudy or not - maybe real possibilities is to see northern lights five times in a month.
