Wood artisan at work

Hello,

A few days ago, at a local fair, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Raymond Nater, a famous wood artisan. Not only he creates beautiful artifacts from wood, but he is also a wonderful person. Very nice to talk to and willing to explain and show. A true expert in wood types and stuff. No wonder since he has been a woodworking teacher for the Correctional Department for about 25 years. I love tools and crafts myself since I've been doing scale models all my life, been a shade tree mechanic and I love been a DIY kinda guy. He graciously allowed me to document him creating a traditional wooden spinning top. The whole process lasted about 6-8 minutes. I took a sequence of about 20 shots. I emailed him the set and he was very happy. Here are some of them.

The humble 18-55 kit lens can really deliver if you give it a chance.

Thanks,

There was a time when I had a lathe in my basement. I still have a few of my turning process lying around.
