Waterfall hunting
Lens: Tok ATX 20-35 f2.8 Camera: K3 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/4s Aperture: F7.1

It is the middle of summer down here, a time normally associated with 40C + heat., but occassionally we get a thunderstorm...and when we do, we get very excited about our very sparse waterfalls, (it is the driest state on the driest continent).
Yesterday we had one such thunderstorm so I took a drive out to a local waterfall I had never visted before. Apparently there is a second fall up higher but I could not get across that little creek without risking a fall and giving all the gear a bath, so am going back today.

The weather sealing was put to a very good test and although the Tokina is not weather sealed it also stood up to the conditions very well. Camera gear and I both got properly wet from steady light rain and mist from the waterfall.

So glad you were able to get there to enjoy this (for your region) rare treat, and especially glad you were kind enough to share the results with the rest of us!

Thankyou. Am getting very comfortable with the whole process now. Used a ND4 filter with these.

Thanks eaglem, its a bit of a guess, some like a bit more, some less, but I do like that effect, glad you do to.

Your welcome. Went back today (see shots in next post), very, VERY glad I did not try and cross that little creek yesterday, there were 1 - 1.5 metre deep holes everywhere under the water, if I had slipped and got a leg coaught in one of those it would have got a bit "interesting".

Went back today, and very glad I did not try and cross yesterday, probably ok for a fitter younger person with a good back and knees, but could have easily ended in disaster for me.

Have taken a shot from pretty much the same position to better show the amount water over the rocks yesterday (14mm today, 20+mm yesterday, so allow for that)
Got across fine today, so some shots of our humble waterfall from the other side.

This is pretty much the same shot as yesterdays, a bit less water today to deal with.

Once across, easy today, a bit of a scramble up a dirt path (and I gotta say how much I admire what the US NPS does with providing pathways and access to areas like this), you get a glimpse of the upper falls.
