Testing out SMC Takumar 50 MM F 1.4
Posted By: Stratman, 07-03-2008, 05:22 PM

I received my genuine Pentax M42 to K-Mount adapter today, and screwed on my pops Tak 50 MM and gave it a lil test. Was raining ,so had to stand on the porch and take the shots

I think I like it !! But have to dial in exposure compensation to get it right....

A little out of focus, but look at that bokeh !!

Pretty sharp

Nice colors...

Looking good there Strat,

I love my copy, and it's now my general walk around lens.

I was thinking yesterday.
I own some $800+ lenses, and my most commonly used lenses can often be purchased for less than $50.00 used. In the case of my Super Tak 50 MM F 1.4 it was free, but needed a good cleaning.
They still offer the same great IQ leaving me wonder why I occasionally buy an expensive lens

Tak Club

Are you going to give the lens back to your Dad or inherit it early?

2 is very sharp! Was one a user error or is it that hard to focus against the matte? Have you noticed with all this rain how GREEN St. Louis is for July? Amazing!!

Really nice lens and images you coaxed out of it - I'll do the same tomorrow after the parade with my S-M-C Tak 50 and add them to your thread (I'm IN the parade so I can't take any pictures OF the parade - besides, its going to rain) if you don't mind me semi-hijacking it. I've only had that lens on film cameras.

I dare you to start a Tak Club thread .

haha, Go for it !!! Feel free to post as many as ya like. Now I'll be scouring eBay for some old Taks !!! Will try using a light meter some time this weekend and see if i can eliminate all the fiddling with the exposure compensation. And yeah, #1 was user error, I had the lens on F 1.4 and the DOF is RAZOR thin at that distance, I must have backed up a hair when I took that shot....
