Some No-Legs
Posted By: slowpez, 02-15-2016, 08:21 AM

Couple of snakes we ran into on our trip. The first was at Arches but he was harmless enough and posed prettily. The second one was not quite so nice. He was on a bike path and had a couple of bikers afraid to pass. I shooed him away after taking his photo. I think it was a Florida rattlesnake (vacationing in Alabama?).

Great Shots! That second one is a real scary dude! Shoo him away, not me. He could have that path, I would find another but again, nice pictures!

Thanks to you both. Thought this thread had died months ago. Guess snakes live forever.

Huh. Whadaya know. It popped up in my feed and I didn't even look at the date. Maybe I clicked the "last" page arrow instead of "next". Or maybe the snakes don't feel like they have enough representation around here and gave their post a boost.

I'm glad it popped again, because I missed it the first time. I really like that second shot, Susan . . . . . . . . even though I have to shake off a mild case of the willies.

I would use a 4200mm if you want get closer shots... cos that's a near as I'd want to be.

Great shots and timing. I still think 420mm would be too close for me.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have to admit that I have a healthy appreciation for snakes but no real fear. I do like to see them first. The first one is not poisonous but the second one is. Although I was on the ground getting the shot, I kept my distance. He wasn't very big either.
