All geared up, where can I go?

He's got all his gear together, now he has to decide where to go. Just 7000 square kilometres to choose from.

Ya, maybe he came to photograph the map. He's deciding which camera to use.

Me? It all depends on your definition of vague.

MY guess is he's been to the Visitor's Centre parking lot, and discovered it is way to cold out there for how he's dressed. He's looking to see if there's an arm of the park that extends down to Florida. "Where do I go to see the gators?" wouldn't be the stupidest question asked at the park gate.

He's hanging outside the bathroom/restroom/toilet/WC (blame the thread about "English"). Maybe he's hoping for shots as the door opens

As far as I can tell, he should be good for -40C (the real kind, not that weaksauce windchill kind of temperature). Well his boots aren't exactly Sorels, but if he doesn't mind frozen feet, he should be good to go. I assume he has long underwear under those baggy pants. If it was me, I would be sweating while trying to read the map.

What I want to know is how he keeps his camera bodies warm and why he has two bodies with long telephotos mounted.

And one more thing: what is with the flash on the monopod? Since he has to stand within an arm's length of the monopod, aren't any birds going to be beyond the reach of his flash? I don't see a Better Beamer on it.

That's not what folks around here wear for -40, but, who knows.

You gotta have the pants

and the top

You have to be warm, standing still, that's a lot different from staying warm while active.

+1. For astronomy, the general advice is check the weather forecast, then dress like it's 20 F (10 C) colder than the forecast.

That little purple snow suit would look good on him.
