Desert Detail
Lens: Pentax-DA 17-70 mm F4 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Winslow, AZ ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F8

Driving north out of Winslow, Arizona, you take an apparently seldom used left into a forlorn and seemingly abandoned park, but then you're rewarded with this view.

wow, thatīs amazing. Is this a huge landscape ? Is it from Mars ? I would need some reference to get the scale..

For scale, look closely at the first couple of ridges in the foreground, you can see some small desert shrubs and grass clumps growing there. Those would be about knee-high on average, so that gives some basis for scaling the photo. Arizona isn't quite Mars, but parts of it look similar, don't they?

Thanks rednax! I'm thinking from memory that the scene is about a mile in width, maybe a half mile to a mile to the plateau in the background. The shrubs at lower right help with scale.

Thanks Tom... I played with the saturation quite a bit, trying not to make it look too hot or too subtle. I think this is close but may be a tad over saturated still.
