Lens: Tamron 90 macro Camera: K-3 Photo Location: My back yard ISO: 400 Aperture: F5

K-3 , F-70-210 with 1.4 TC for a maximum of 294 ƒ8, and Tamron 90 macro.

A comparison shot, taken with the 70-210 and 1.4 TC at 294mm

But, these guys were staying so close I decided to get the Tamrom 90 macro, which rates as great lens on every platform.

It's better to be close than far.

Cropped

Moving in even closer, I had to turn off sharpening. Any sharpening at all produced artifacts.

Norm that's an interesting combo the F 70-210 with the 1.4. How did you find it overall ? a good experience ? is the IQ better than say your Sigma 70-300 APO DG .The reason I ask is I'm either going to purchase the TC or a 16-85 just not sure which will be first.

I'll have to check that out for you. I know I wouldn't be using it if my 60-250 wasn't in for repair, but compared to the 70-300? Good question. I have found you can't use the TC on the 70-300. You shouldn't even mount it. There is a physical conflict.I assume the same one that won't let you mount it on a Sigma TC.

Thanks for that little bit of info, I'm almost positive if I got the TC I would have tried it with 70-300.

No problem, I knew the Sigma 70-300 was a no go for the Sigma TC but like the guy I am I thought maybe the Pentax will be different. It came to a grinding halt as soon as I tried to focus, Fortunately the TC wasn't damaged or marked, but I did make a note to be more cautious in the future.
