A couple of HDR photos taken last year at Garner SP in Texas. The Frio River runs though the park and can be quite beautiful.

Not a bad looking place to learn to swim, according to George Strait.

Not sure where Garner State Park is, but I did go to Garner Middle School (also named after John Nance Garner, aka "Cactus" Jack).

It is located between Uvalde and Leaky Texas if that helps. Doesn't help me much but my husband can find anything once he gets behind the wheel. By the way, Texas has some of the nations best state parks.

I think part of the reason is that the Feds don't own nearly as much land there in the Lone Star State as they do in other parts of the West--the Big Bend and Guadalupe NP's are the only ones that come to mind, in an area the size of France. (Otherwise, I definitely want to see some from Possum Kingdom your next trip through...)

Very nice, Susan. We've never poked around that part of Hill Country. Looks like a cool place.

Texans are a whole different breed of Americans. Met and married my husband in the state and am still not sure if that is a good thing or not.
