These were taken at the Thirlmere Festival of Steam. An annual event that also included Traction engines, model steam engines and an old car exhibition.
It was a very hot day, 36 degrees C and very crowded. It was sometimes hard to get decent shots due to the amount of people around.

Wonderful series, sir. This is what makes photography so much fun. I get a real kick out of being around, on and riding in one these guys. Nice work with that Tamron Lens. Thanks so much.

In early 2014 Union Pacific moved Big Boy #4104 (a 4-8-8-4) from the Rail Giants Museum in Pomona, CA to the UP Steam Shop in Cheyenne, WY. It made several stops along the way. I was able to grab a couple of cell phone pix (LG G2) at the huge Colton, CA yard. There are much better pictures on the web.
