We went to the Zoo yesterday, It was HARD not to stick on my 50-200, but I was there to test the macro more.

It does pretty good for distance, but i'm not use to not using Zoolander! LOL!

Here are just a few.. more to come! =)

You may be seeing A LOT of macro's from me! LOL!

One of my distance shots! Have to edit the other's! =)

She used a flash. Thats how I get a black background. But now I want to get rid of it! :ugh:

I didn't use a flash for this:

(I'm also not in possession of the quality lenses she is so keep that in mind as well) These leaves were still attached to the tree and in a wooded area with lots of trees with leaves around them.

Oh and I concur: Nice work.

According to the EXIF data, the flash did not fire.

OK, you don't have any EXIF data. How did you achieve the black background? Inquiring minds want to know. I don't remember this particular method being taught last weekend.

Nope, actually I did not! =)
I took it at the Zoo, and it was a VERY dark area behind it. 95% of the image was blacked out behind the leaf, and I did the rest via cloning in CS2! =)

Lucky? It was a wooded area (on one of my multitude of dogwalks around my neighborhood that looks like the woods we were all in last weekend). The sunlight was dappled, some spots dark, some spots bright. These leaves were sunny. I metered on the brightest part of the leaves and all the background went black. There was no cloning. I may have cropped out a spare leaf tip maybe and brightened the leaves a bit. I'll have to go back and look at the original raw image. But I used no flash nor cloning. It more or less came out this way.

I did this one the same way. These daisies were still attached to the plant and in bright sun. Not the sharpest image but you get the idea. If I remember rightly the background of these was the shady area under a larger bush (again, I have cheap lenses).
