Lucky? It was a wooded area (on one of my multitude of dogwalks around my neighborhood that looks like the woods we were all in last weekend). The sunlight was dappled, some spots dark, some spots bright. These leaves were sunny. I metered on the brightest part of the leaves and all the background went black. There was no cloning. I may have cropped out a spare leaf tip maybe and brightened the leaves a bit. I'll have to go back and look at the original raw image. But I used no flash nor cloning. It more or less came out this way.
I did this one the same way. These daisies were still attached to the plant and in bright sun. Not the sharpest image but you get the idea. If I remember rightly the background of these was the shady area under a larger bush (again, I have cheap lenses).
