That one is really pale-colored. Most that I've seen in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana are deep pink. (Florida couple below)

It's a juvenile. The colour of the plumage, iris, and bare skin on the head develops by its third year of life.

That is a beautiful juvenile. Well taken.

Here's a couple of adults enjoying a joke together - perhaps a bit risqué for that young'un to hear. Taken last spring at High Island, Texas during breeding season. BTW the color is always deeper during breeding.

Must have spotted a tourist wearing a big straw hat and a flowery Hawaiian shirt.

Nice capture of the young spoonbill bullsonparade81. We get a few here in the wintertime too. TFS this one as I missed them this year.
