I'm fascinated every year by the emergence of my "tree" peonies. The flowers (which come later) are spectacular and beautiful but the plant's emergence from winter dormancy is pretty grotesque. Still, one can't but notice shapes and textures which nature seems to repeat over and over.

That almost looks like a baby wrapped in the arms of that new growth. Eerie and weird.

slowpez certainly nailed this one. It looks beautifully other-worldly, but seems to me to be benign and almost protective. Excellent shot, with good use of the legendary Bokina. Thanks.
