Goldfinch

A couple of these little birdies have been visiting our garden for a while now, no doubt attracted to the red berries coming out on the branches. They are very quick and 'flittery', but I managed to grab a few of them from an upstairs window. Here's the best one .....

K7 & Tamron AF700-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 Di LD .... F5.6, ISO 400, 1/180th sec, handheld with SR active.

Very fine.

So different in look from the Goldfinch found in S. Ontario.

Nice picture, our Goldfinches over here are actually gold, but our purple finches aren't purple.

Thanks all, I'm glad you liked the shot .... I'm absolutely no 'birder', this was a chance close encounter and I grabbed the opportunity.... But it was a fun few minutes seeing these lovely little creatures in the K7's viewfinder!

Beautiful bird well-captured. That's "postcard perfect" -- well, actually better. You created a strong 3-D effect that just makes it wonderful.

Thanks! I think the unusual high viewpoint, with the bird actually below the camera, has helped a lot here
