Sure was an unfortunate winter for the East Coast! This is a shot I took at a competition at my local ski resort.
For those who shred&shoot, what's your favorite lens for winter conditions? Favorite model? Being that Pentax
is top-of-the-line when it comes to weather-sealing, I thought it was only right to start a thread about snow sports.

I graduated high school with Deer Valley and Park City in my back yard. I mean literally in my back yard... so yeah. But I haven't been skiing for years. I would like to go though. Sounds kind of nice actually.

I probably wouldn't hit the double black mogul runs anymore but a few days or weeks of cruising would be cool.

There are a few posters around here that take snow shots and skiing or whatever all the time. They are pretty good at it too.

My favorite ski lens is the DA 18-135 WR (Its also my only WR lens). It's fairly light for its large zoom range, which is handy, especially in the backcountry. The lens has a big rubber-zoom ring that works well with gloves. I used to have an old DA 18-55 and found it to lack reach on many occasions.

The drawback with the 18-135mm is I find it gives low contrast and a lot of chromatic aberration at times, so RAW files need a bit of tweaking to get great results.
I bring this lens on all my ski trips. I don't have a whole lot of action shots, but here are a few photos from recent ski/winter trips:

I take a Q7 skiing with me. With the 01 Standard Prime it fits in my jacket pocket. It also stitches pretty well when I want to shoot wider. I am more of a landscape shooter than an action shooter, but here are some shots from a recent trip.
