Hoping this isn't a double post. Tried to find the original and it said "in process". Never had that happen before.
Anyhow, I can spend hours chasing these birds around the shoreline.

All three are outstanding, Susan. The detail you produce in these photos is amazing. I notice a band on the bird's leg in the last one - some kind of tracking, I suppose.

Thanks Jer. We ran into a young lady on the beach who was tracking plovers for her university. She asked my husband to ask me if I would mind sending her photos of the birds that had bands. I spent several days on the beach chasing the little guys (heck of a job but someone has to do it . Sent her a bunch with different colored rings but never heard back from her so I am not sure if they were useful or not. I did get some keepers from the project though.

Some populations of Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus) have special conservation status (endangered, threatened, etc.) designated either at the state or federal level. To aid in the protection and recovery of those populations, the geographic locations they use at various times of the year must be known. Marking birds with colour bands enables this.

Yeah Pete, I know. They were looking for Piping Plovers too but we didn't see any this time. Cute little guys though.
