Fly or bee or what
Posted By: Ole, 02-11-2007, 10:25 AM

Between some 15-20 shots this one was the best focus wise. These things are very fast and it's hard to get them in focus before the fly on to the next flower. Hand held - a tripod would have been better but that would create another set of challenges in following the beast around. K10D, D FA100/2.8 macro, 1/350sec, F5.6, ISO 400.

Great shot of a Honey Bee! Around here they are still in hibernation. This picture really makes me long for summer

Hi Ole
That is a very nice shot of a honey bee. And I agree, hard to capture. Maybe if we gave them some valium they would slow down a bit.

NaCl(it would be nice if they'd recognise a superior photographer type person and slow down!)H2O

That would be a bee.

I have found that bees will sleep on the flowers overnight, especially if the night is cooler, and they can even be petted without getting riled as they are too cool.

This is a good time to shoot them holding still as you will have a little time before they warm up enough to begin their day's activities.
