First attempts with nik software
Posted By: bakerking31, 03-29-2016, 06:48 PM

These were my first attempts with nik software, I'm happy with the results compared to what I did in Lightroom only

The first is from a hike last week with my k3 and 15mm lens. The last two are from my John Muir Trail hike last year with my k-50 and kit lens

The photos have a vintage look but with a lot of contrast. Nice!

Beautiful B&W!
Love the series but I'm partial to the last one...awesome composition and the sky is so dramatic, great job!
What is nik software?

A freebie at the moment which gives additional options as plug ins to most PP packages.

Great series, especially like the middle one.

Thank you everyone.

For some comparison, here is my Lightroom attempt at black and white conversion of the second one. Note the horrible artifacts between the ridge and the sky.

Silver efex pro and their output sharpener are both great tools. Still learning a lot about them.

Great set, but the last one is really special to my eyes.

Thanks, it's my favorite as well.

I am working on another photo and having an issue with a white line dividing the mountains from the sky. This was present before sharpening as well so its not an oversharpening issue. Any advice on how to fix this?
