HAYTOR VALE, Dartmoor National Park, Towards Exmouth

Pentax K7 - Samyang 14mm 1:2.8 UMC - F13 - ISO 100 - 5 shot exposure bracket over approx 7 stop range
Tripod, Remote Control with Mirror Up - Photomatix Pro 4.0, Fusion Method with Adjustments

Attachment 305045

The Haytor Rocks are a prominent natural landmark high up on the moor in Dartmoor National Park, Devon, UK. Plenty of long distance views, and I was blessed with a clear and crisp early morning last week. I got up to the rocks around 6-45am. I set up the tripod and when I was facing into the sun I decided to shoot some brackets due to the extreme high DR in the scenes. With 5 shots I decided to try Photomatix Pro, and settled on the Fusion technique, tweaking each slider. Final processing and detailing in PS CS2 and Topaz Detail.

I rather like the sunlight reflection in this shot, all in all a good landscape shot.

Thanks! The flare is an optical effect, I always get it with the Samyang 14mm when stopped down. Yes, this part of Devon is full of great places for a family holiday ... We stay on a farm near Ashburton and that's near enough to Dartmoor as well as the Torbay coast. There's quite a few more to come from that morning at Haytor, so keep an eye out!
