Chinatown Latern on Brick

Interesting image, well spotted. The colour and texture of the brick wall make your eye rove around the wall, and the little circular items almost but not quite have a repeating pattern. The lantern has turned out nicely as well, the gradual changes of colours and the shades in the glass make it a nice counterpoint.

If it were me, and you can take this or leave it, I would crop out the concrete section at the bottom of the wall. It distracts me.

I agree 100%. The texture of the concrete really does not belong in the picture. Great shot! Not thinking of submitting it for this month contest?

For what it's worth, I sorta like the concrete. When you crop it out, you'll have less of the pole showing as well which I think isn't good for the composition. But no doubt no concrete will make it a more simple composition and because of that, maybe more dramatic. I love Seattle - the exterior walls are great. I love the colors in your photo. Thanks for posting.
