Great set, especially like your Spring Beauty.

I wish B'rer Mole wasn't playing hooky--no doubt off 'rasslin' bears and reuniting lost fawns with their mothers as we speak--but I'm going to call your mystery bloom Carey's saxifrage...a wet habitat and broad leaves might let you know we're getting close.

Thank you for the ID. I had it down as mountain saxifrage but it seemed a bit too early for it to be blooming. Can't find a photo of Carey's in my books so I will get a look at it on line. Identifying wildflowers is a labor of love and drives me nuts sometimes. Didn't get a shot of the leaves but the plant was growing on a hillside in the Smokies. Mole is never around when you really need him.

I think both Mountain/Michaux's saxifrage (as well as brook lettuce) have a little thinner petals toward their base--hard to tell if you're not Mole!

Thank you kindly. The bug was a bonus for me too. It wasn't about to move until it got its photo taken.

Thanks Rupert. Those bluets always look fuzzy to me for some reason. They are so tiny and delicate that I have a lot of trouble getting a shot of them.

That shot needs to be posted in the Bokeh Thread!

As for sharpness........that is a perfect example that needle/razor sharpness is not the priority some give it. It is a lovely shot, and has a soft beauty that is just perfect!

Regards!
