My most sucessful pano to date...

I took this the other day of the smoke column coming up from the Basin fire on the California coast. Nine shots with the DA 18-250 @ 18mm, hand held, stitched with Hugin then cropped for straight edges.



BTW if you like the smoke, I updated this old thread with more fire photos.

Yeah. The stitching software seemed to add a bit more red to the sky on the left than the original pictures, but not unrealistically so... so I left it.

Thanks Jimbo, I only put about 10 minutes into this, and the software did all the work. Check out hugin as it does a good job auto stitching.

Beautiful, I like the colours a lot! Now I know why I spent extra for buying a 1920 x 1200 monitor!
