k1 and 560mm in the rain
Lens: DA 560 Camera: K1 Photo Location: My backyard ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/80s Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: Murra54, 05-10-2016, 12:02 AM

The first useful shot taken with my K1 and the DA 560 (both just received), on a tripod. This was at the minimum focus distance of the lens so taken from 3.5 to 4 meters away. Very wet and overcast day.

Looking good, must have been solid tripod and no wind to get a super sharp shot like this, at that shutter speed.

That having been said, Roses don't eat you...

I would save this fine optic to photograph things that do.

Good test shot .... That camera and lens combo is, well. ... Quite a combo! Good job getting those two serious bits of kit up and running. Does the 560 give much more image circle beyond the aps-c crop?

Just outside my back door on nice solid concrete. I upgraded my tripod just recently and now use a Vanguard Auctus 283T, which is significantly taller than my Manfrotto 190, but just as solid.
I have walked away with more than a few wounds from my grapples with that particular bush, it lies in wait beside a path and springs out when you least expect it.

Have added another photograph from the same spot which clearly shows the vignetting. otherwise I am very happy with the few photographs I have taken with the combo. I also like to use a square format for a lot of my photographs, which may be a bit wanky but it is a format I always liked, so having to crop away the edges does not bother me overly. Hoping to get similar results when I try the K1 with my 60 - 250 (less expensive option than the 70 - 200)

From a person who photographs plants much better than I, I take that as high praise

Did you add vignetting or does it really vignette that much?

Great stuff! :-)

It's not as bad a thought it might be, plus I really like square crops, so it seems very usable! Thanks for showing that Murra54.

Thank you Susan, I only have to walk out the back door to see the roses, so they are regular subjects when I am feeling lazy- which eems to be most of the time
