Extraordinary performance from the HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR (I presume its this one).

Wow, Heinrich - sharp and crisp to a fault. They've got that Lohman touch.

I've never gotten this sort of performance from my 55-300 except at shorter focal lengths - I don't use a tripod so I'm guessing the fault is with the goofus behind the camera!

Very nice Heinrich, I swear watching those birds is better than television. And if you get a nice capture even now and then, that's bonus.

That dog is a Pit bull-Dalmatian-Lab cross and the most gentle (and lazy) dog that I have ever met.

Thank you and yes that is the lens, some were taken with Sigma 50-500 (Bigma)

Thank you Jer, you are too kind As for tripods, a bought a decent one a number of years ago and if all else fails I'll use it. Most of the time I just hand hold but if I can find a place to put a beanbag (actually buckwheat hull, it's a lot lighter) down that works pretty good.

Thank you Norm and yes, it is way more rewarding than watching TV.
