Valhalla, I am coming
Lens: K35/3.5 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Knoxville, Tennessee ISO: 80
Posted By: CreationBear, 05-19-2016, 06:40 PM

Valhalla being defined as the duck confit fries at the Stock & Barrel on Market Square... I did manage a bit of a walk between UT campus and the center city, in the unlikely event I needed to whet my appetite before meeting my wife for dinner.

1. Librarians can be rather droll:

2. I'm usually as crepuscular as a, well, bear, in my photography and hardly ever shoot mid-afternoon, but the K35/3.5 (with CPL) handled the light better than I did:

3. A bit nor' northwest in my framing:

4. Virginia Creeper:

5. Synchronicity:

6. In the alleyway behind the Tennessee Theatre--alternate title, Unclear on the Concept I: Homo homini lupus.

Also unclear on the concept, Antinomian Division:

7. Southern Culture on the Skids:

8. To be gentrified:

At any rate, the K35/3.5 is fast becoming one of my favorites--a bit of a challenge to focus when I'm not sitting dead-red at f8 and infinity, but with a little help from focus confirmation, I managed a few sharp images.

Nice series. You found a lot of pipes, funnels, stacks, etc.

Ha, thanks! I'm starting to wonder, though, why the Knox County board of tourism doesn't return my calls...

Thanks! To be honest, I'm pretty hopeless at getting things "plumb" while using an OVF, but these actually weren't as far off as they usually are.

A line from a well known tune... and for those who don't know it.

Nice back roads shots of K-town. I like the fire escape. Duck fat and taters, hard to beat.

Ha, I tried to turn ZoeB onto it a few months back, but no joy (she probably doesn't recognize Aretha Franklin, either.) At any rate, Monsieur Plant has been slipping into my neck of the woods lately with Alison Krause and Patty Griffin--bluegrass being, after all, just another version of the Celtic Fringe (minus all the cocaine.)

Thanks! Next time you're down we'll have to try it (or Litton's, up in Fountain City) if your gallbladder is up to it.

That young lady you must remember is an "badass, quasi-medival swordmaiden"... her words, describing herself.

Thanks, Andrew! BTW, you should put a K35/3.5 on your MF wish list--I'm thinking that its microcontrast would make it a great option for your B/W work.

Thanks! I'd still rather be taking pictures of a mountain stream, but it wasn't a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Loved all these images. The graffiti images and brick buildings are especially nice. Thank you for sharing them.

Very glad you liked them--maybe it's the Deep Ellum vibe!
