Found this while walking downtown this morning. Can anyone here id the make / model / year? It's a big bugger but with beautiful lines and colors....and all that chrome!

Cars had a bit of style about them then.

This owner will need to keep an eye on the lower door edge and sill.

That filler was used on the GM 6 Cyl Chevies that were exported to Australia in the 1950's.
It was a good design because the filler was high above the tank as shown.

On hot Friday evenings (110 F ( 43 C) ), the customers would come in for a tank full.
The petrol ( gasoline) was pumped up from undergound and would go into the hot fuel tank.
A lot of British and USA cars were not designed for this and the "blowback" was common and unpredictable.
The worst cars for this were those styled to have the filler low down, eg the "Chrysler Valiant Surfari",
some of the British "Routes Group" cars, and more.

In those days the paint would be turned ugly brown by a "blowback" so we had pi$$ed customers,
and i got sprayed by the leaded gasoline regularly.
