The P-51 Mustang, F-16 Falcon/Viper, and F-35 Lightning II were flying in formation at my annual local airshow (Bethpage Air Show, Jones Beach NY). It might look like 3 photos combined on a white background, but this time hazy skies worked in my favor.

Sadly, a pilot scheduled to perform at the show died 2 days earlier when his P-47 Thunderbolt crashed.

Great shot!
The perfectly plain background draws attention to where it should be - the aircraft. Would make a great poster!

I live in Ohio but grew up in NY going to Jones Beach, wish I could have been there! Awesome juxtaposition of American airpower and yes, tragic about the pilot of the P-47, also one of my favorite aircraft. Nicely done!

Great shot.

What lens did you use? I can't wait for our air show this year, I missed it last year ... I just need a long enough lens now

Nice shot!

I'm looking forward to getting some good air show photos next weekend at the Dayton Air Show.

Sadly, because of the tragedy earlier this month, the Blue Angels cancelled their performance in Dayton. Can't blame them.

Taken with Sigma 50-500 OS HSM. It's a heavy lens but still usable handheld. The optical stabilizer can be set to work vertically, not horizontally, therefore allowing stabilized panning.

Having said that, the Pentax 55-300 is a bargain airshow lens if you are shopping.
