Sorry, do not know the Florida heron species enough to confirm your ID, but sure do love the action and detail in this fine image!

Nice picture. It does look like a heron or an egret.

Yep a Tricolored Heron according to Cornell labs. I've never seen one here and that's a great capture. Getting them in focus is hard sometimes when they're moving.

Nice shot, Dave - I see something similar (if not the same) around here. I've photographed a few of 'em - not easy to catch . . . . . . at least for an old geezer like me.

Yes, Tricolored. It's known as Louisiana Heron in older literature.

was on vacation in a beach front cottage.... chasing shore birds about gave many laughs to friends... thanks!
