Is it coming or going?
Posted By: J.Scott, 07-15-2008, 07:48 PM

... I can't decide; it looks the same from both ends. I believe it is a Monarch Butterfly larvae.

While I'm at it, here's a few other shots from the garden. All hand held as I still haven't bought a decent tripod yet.

They look good to me Jeff

Although I have a sturdy tripod I rarely use it to hold a camera.
Including with close-ups.
Although I use it to hold the flash quite often

Thanks Stu. I'm just whining as the Voigtlander is my most extreme manual focus lens and it takes a very steady hand to render sharp images.

Thanks for clearing that up! I found another larvae on the same clump of milkweed. My wife planted it just to lure the Monarch's in and it looks like it is working.

Very clear, detailed pictures. The colours are quite pleasant.

My favourite one is the second photograph. In terms of depth of field, exposure and colour accuracy I think you've pretty much nailed it.

Thank you so much! I wanted to do justice to this beautiful flower in the garden. However, on some computer monitors I see a lot of jpeg jaggies along the edges. On better monitors it looks fine.

Nice Shots jeff...

I am really fond of the second one.. you captured that flower wonderfully.. but as far as which end is up on the catty piller.. lol.. I would have to vote for the push-me-pull-me option....
