My first go at Night Photography...
Posted By: codiac2600, 07-16-2008, 06:52 AM

If you guys didn't know I host photography classes on a ot of different topics here in Rockford. I've done nature/macro classes, lighting classes, portrait classes and many others with lots of great buzz surrounding them.

I'm in the middle of writing classes on on camera flash techniques, digital workflow for the new digital photographer, and now night photography. I've personally never done night photography, but have had a good idea of what to do, but I need proof to make these guys know I'm not just a bag of hot air while talking.

Last night my co-worker (with our DA* 60-250 f4 if you haven't read my write up on it go check in the Lens Discussion) went out and shot everything and anything night related we could in a few hours.

Here are the results! All taken with the K20D and 16-50 f2.8!

I really must try one of these newfangled night-photography things sometime.

I guess I'll have to vist you for some classes, or you can use my other beach house if you want to come down on Vacation.
Nice work!
Can't wait to see some more shots with the 60-250. I wonder if it's going to run about the same as the DA* 300 in price?

I very liked these photos and was wondering if you post-processed images or was it just the camera and shooter?

Very nice Chris. I like the one with the curved rail and the one of street scene with the light trail (a bus I assume) running through it. You did very well to keep subtle (or not so subtle) colors in the shots.

I absolutely love night photography. It is my favorite to shoot and view too. I do wish I felt a bit safer by myself out at night shooting. I was comfortable in Pismo Beach when I visited and took a night time walk with my k10d and tripod. You really have a good series here Chris. Now you have proof to show you know what you're talking about in class.

Great work with colours, I especially like the bridge shot.

Why are so many of your shots tilted, though, I wonder.
