Heron In the Distance (cropped)
Lens: Sigma 150-500 DG OS Camera: Pentax K-3II Photo Location: Lake Champlain (near shore), NY ISO: 320 Shutter Speed: 1/1250s Aperture: F8

Shot of a Great Blue Heron I took on 05/26/2016. It was sort of far away. I shot it at 290 MM and cropped it. I was using my K-3II, the detail I get from subjects far away is a real asset to quite an extent with it.

A great blue commands a lot of sky, so I don't know that it is a problem to portray it that way, with a large border of sky. They almost look like a different bird when they are flying, compared to seeing them standing in a marsh, with their long necks folded up!

Thanks.

I actually shot it at 290 MM per my EXIF data. I had stated 500 MM, and have corrected that in my original post for the thread.
