Let's face the music and dance...

We don't like to do things too quickly, here in the Highlands.

At least they are up front about it....one of my local roads was closed for 10 years with vague promises of completion, well sometime in the future.

The cheap way to get construction done is to keep it as a fall back to keep construction crews busy between major projects. Many companies will work for little profit if it helps them keep their crews together and provides work during times when they have no big projects. And we all know how cheap Scots are.

I once had my brickwork pointed in an older house in Toronto. Quotes ran from $15,000 to $50,000. A guy from a big company knocked on my door, and said "I have a six man crew that needs 2 days work next week, if we can do it on the right two days I''ll do if for $4000". The savings can be considerable.

An being large crew professionals, they did a fantastic job as well.

Exactly, a new ring road and bridge.

In Japan it would all be done in 4 weeks, finished on time and on budget... just wait see the list of failures we're gonna have.

That's the downside of long construction times. You leave a project unfinished and come back in two months and you have washouts etc. to deal with. Costs become un-reliable. You end up doing some of the owork twice.

Where I live if we paved a section of highway 60 , 85 months later it's probably about due to be repaved.

Are you suggesting there's something wrong with that?

Hope you kept his phone number, you could act as his agent for future Scottish work.

I wouldn't devote time to trying to make a decent income from Scots.

I feel for you....one highway expansion project on the Fort Worth side of DFW took about 6 years! Now that it's been complete for about 3 years now, they've decided to make some additional 'improvements' ..... translation: "we're going to fix some of the mistakes we made initially".... What can you but grin ??
