Thanks Mel! This was from a terrarium in Helsinki Zoo and I did look up the name, but can't remember it now (getting old)

You are right, this is a Paleosuchus palpebrosus - Cuvier's dwarf caiman, or Cuvier's smooth-fronted caiman - it is about one foot long an weights less than 1 kg.
