Conflicted Interests
Posted By: nomadkng, 06-10-2016, 04:40 PM

I'm generally past the stage where I get emotionally invested in any photo I take. But perhaps that's the case with this one.
I find it subtle and artsy and full of sensory impact.
My in-house critic is rather blasť. Normally I'm the hyper-critical one, so when we differ like this, I get concerned.
Is the photo a "meh" or "cool"? A "nice idea, but not quite" or a "unique perspective and approach."

My belief is that this photograph is beautiful, interesting and very well executed. Wonderful work here.

Many thanks for posting.

My opinion is the execution of the photo is wonderful. Can't ask for much more than that. At the same time it seems to be lacking a bit of content for my tastes.

My in-house critic

Ha, I feel you--my wife consistently prefers my "urban" shots, which I take mostly to kill time (and my "nature" shots usually get a cool reception, no matter what kind of brier-patch I crawled through.)

At any rate, those long tele's make for great "bloom" shots--I'd love to have an F300/4.5 in my bag if I could get it to the top of the hill. In this case, I'd be curious what a monochrome treatment and a square crop would look like.
