Were you using flash? It would have been so easy to meter wrong with the white background, so there is a lot about this photo to admire.

Yes, I used a flash (360FGZ) with a small softbox (15cm) mounted on a C-bracket with a ballhead . The softbox was about 10cm above the flower, on a slight angle from the left for the light to give some texture. If we look at the eye of the flying bee, we can see the softbox reflection which gives a good idea on how it was positioned.
