It all started with the K-50

About 18 months ago I purchased my first DSLR, a Pentax K-50. I didn't know anything about Pentax and I wasn't aware of this site. I saw it on sale at Costco and did a quick search on it and the reviews I read all said about the same thing, "good beginner camera for pictures, no good for video and decades of K-mount lenses available" perfect for me.

Now my collection has grown. I have added a K-3 and K-1 and my LBA is still going. My K-50 came with the 18-55 and 50-200mm I have added two Sigma lens 150-500 and the 10-20. My Pentax lens now include F 35-80, FA 80-320, DFA 100 macro, DA 50 and the DA560 and I'm still looking to add to it.

Today they have discontinued the K-50, I still enjoy mine.

It all sounded like the normal story around here for many of us who end up with a Pentax for one reason or another... until I spotted the DA560 which is not a normal end point for LBA. 8 gazillion lenses between 50-60mm sure, but not a canon like that one. Happy shooting.

I do love my 560, especially on the K-1. The next lens will be the FA31 probably and then I will be done, unless I can find a Pentax A* 1200mm F/8 for a reasonable price.

I actually saw a 1200mm on eBay today! Pentax A 1200mm F 8 Ed If Lens Mint | eBay

Not sure if it's a good price or not. I've seen one IRL when I met a forum member who has one and lives near me. That thing is a beast. I think I'd stop at the 560mm.

I bought my first DSLR six months ago. A K-50 with the 18-135mm.
Looking forward to having something similar to your photo in the future. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hah hah, welcome to the GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) club! I have a similar story, and I'm sure others on this forum do too.

That 560 lens, though. It's a beast!

Did the slippery slope stop in 2016, when we last discussed it?

Or has just become a steeper downhill event.

Well done in your choices and your presentation. No doubt, you get into the groove of buying, selling and perhaps even trading. Good luck. )
