Le Mans 2016 trip · **1 Like**

Back now from the annual trip over to France for the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race, always one of my favourite trips away. An amazing race to witness this year with the lead car breaking down on the final lap after 23 hours and 57 minutes...Le Mans is always a tricky place for photography as you are usually behind
double layers of debris fencing and then the issues of low light during the nightime, however I'm fairly pleased with my efforts overall.

Great pix , some great close ups...both at repose and in action. You have the Tamron 70-200 listed, any other lenses in use ?

I also used the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 for some of the static shots, and also used my SMC-A 50mm f1.7 for the start/finish line shot. Really I need to start looking at something 400mm plus for the circuits where you are much further away (or try and get a media pass !)

I've got a Sigma 150-500 K mount, which I use for drag racing and 'road course' ice racing photography, among other things. It's not a fast lens (F 5-6.3), but outdoors, in days with sun, it's quite good at stopping action at 1600 ISO even at F 11. Night shots, I wouldn't use this Sigma.

I think it would hard to beat your fast Tamron 70-200 @ F 2.8 at night. You have some great poor light photos in this series.
