Around the garden: The previously un photographed.
Lens: Sigma 70 macro.. Camera: K-3 Photo Location: My back yard ISO: 100 Aperture: F10
Posted By: normhead, 07-04-2016, 01:07 PM

It's hot an muggy, so I walk around, looking for things I haven't photographed this year. I did get a few images, some of the ones I don't have, I still don't have after 3 tries. And the deer flies are out.

Finally a decent image of this one.

I don't recall seeing images from the Sigma 70 before. Great results with striking detail, especially evident in the clover. Thanks for those!

The Sigma 70 is a great lens. Being a Sigma it's oversized and over corrected, but, great bokeh, very smooth yet rich in detail. If you could get the same results from a pancake 70, I'd be overjoyed. Unfortunately most of the time I have a choice between taking the 70 macro, or Sigma 8-16, so anywhere there's landscape it gets left home. There just isn't room in my camera bag for both, and I hate having to carry a bigger bag.

Asking me flower names is a pointless endeavour. I know that first one is a Peony, because Heinrich said so. I know the 5th one is a clover because I'm always looking for 4 leaves. The rest I don't know what they are.

I've added one more that after three tries I didn't get a picture of yesterday,. It's a very delicate flower and there was too much wind.

Thanks volley, and thanks for not asking me what any of them are.

Just because I take pictures of stuff, doesn't mean I know anything about that stuff.

Having been a high school teacher teaching 14-18 yer olds, I can tell you without fear of contradiction, the less you know, the happier you are. Keep your fantasies alive.

We have a whole natural history of horse flyer behaviour. They will actually fly off and leave you alone if you leave their territory, and seem to be particularly bad in disturbed areas. Often the bush has one or two, but the road has dozens. There are no good years of them, just some years are worse than others.
