Milkweed Leaf Beetle
Lens: Sigma EX 180mm F3.5 APO Macro DG Camera: Pentax K-1 Photo Location: Québec, Canada ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/320s Aperture: F9
Posted By: Weevil, 07-10-2016, 05:27 PM

K-1 + Sigma 180mm + AF 540FGZ Flash / Softbox Diffuser

The fibers you see are from cottonwood seeds that were all over the place...

The K-1 delivers very well when using the high iso here at 1600...

I certainly agree with Heinrich. Just as a matter of interest I wasn't aware Sigma made a Pentax mounting for the Sigma 180mm EX DG macro and I noticed this is what you used on the K-1.

Yes, they made two versions...
a DG and a non DG (older) version...
Sigma 180mm F3.5 APO EX DG IF Macro Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
They are pretty hard to find though ...
It's considered as the "poor man's Pentax FA*200mm Macro" ;-)

I was lucky enough to own 3 copies of that lens (2 DG and 1 non-DG), this is the 3rd copy... I sold my 1st copy because I wasn't using it enough, and wanted to finance another purchase, and I regretted it... so when I saw one on eBay at a reasonable price, I jumped on it...
if you can find one at a good price, and if you like macro photo, buy it !

Excellent technique and great job isolating the subject without compromising detail!
