Sagittarius A
Lens: Pentax 14mm f/2.8 Camera: Pentax K30 Photo Location: 15 mi west of Folsom, New Mexico ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F2.8

First try at astrophotography (forgot to adjust my ISO), on top of Johnson mesa in very lonely country. The night was pitch black with only a few very scattered ranches. The one-room church was built in 1897 and is still currently in use. I brought along a scope to use as a prop. This region is essentially the center of the galaxy where the black hole known as Sagittarius A is located. This region of New Mexico is among one of the best dark sky areas of the U.S.

Nice shot! Looks like the perfect spot for astrophotography.

This is a lovely scene - especially with light on the church as it is.
