............a few House Finches (all female) and others

This bird was playing with the water for quite while, picked up a beak full but instead of drinking it threw it around.

And a couple of larger birds

Amazingly sharp. I would not have assumed you were shooting at ISO 1600 or with a "standard" zoom. Kudos to the photographer

Beautiful series & that 4th shot is just a fantastic capture. Detail is perfect too. Do you use a tripod?

Great series of super sharp images Heinrich. I don't know what you have in your bird feeders but those last two birds look pretty darn big .

Thank you for the kind words, all are handheld that's why I shot them at ISO 1600.

Hi Susan and thanks for the kind words, as for the last two, they might be a tad large but I did shoot them from the backyard.

You must be feeding them the good stuff to get such shenanigans from your feathered friends
Always enjoy viewing your offerings. I hope to achieve a even a portion of the skill you show with your photos. Thank you as always for sharing.

So that begs the follow up question. Any magical post processing steps, or do they just come out of the camera this clean?

Nothing magical and no, most of the time they do not come out the camera that clean. If there is a lot of noise I start reducing it in ACR but do not go overboard. I only do final noise reduction after resizing in PS. I use Define 2 (Nik Collection)
Final sharpening with smart sharpen in PS. I used to use "sharpener pro 3" from the Nick collection but it quit working after the last PS upgrade.

Wow. Amazing images. My personal favorites include feathers. But the last two are pretty sweet as well. Thanks for all.
