A Fraxinus excelcior eating a steel beam
Lens: HD-DA 16-85mm Camera: Pentax K30 Photo Location: Norway

In Norwegian mythology this tree was called the tree of the world and named Yggdrasil. Shot at our leisure property.

That is a very interesting shot. Do you know how long the steel has been there? It looks like it was cut in to the tree for some reason.

Seems like an extreme way to stake up a tree...

Yes I know all about this. About twenty years ago a (mean) neighbor was pulling timber with his tractor and hurting the tree every winter. ( If the cortex is being removed around a tree it will die) The beam was not cut in to the tree, but only attached to the surface for protection.
