Show me some M 50/1.7 and 1.4 shots!
Posted By: Alvin, 02-13-2007, 10:29 AM

After I lost an e-bay bid for a M 28/2.8 last night, I decided to look local and may have found an old M 50/1.7. The same store has a M 55/2 in the same condition as the lens I'm borrowing and I like the lens, but I'd like to see some shots from a 50mm to see how much difference there may be.

Post up your shots and if you have a 1.4 put it up here too!

Thanks!

the only 50mm shot I have now is this one, taken with a 55mm. I was hoping the adapter came in in while I was away on a snowmobiling trip, but no dice. Sorry yet again.

Phototramp - tune smythe, eh? What's that instrument he's playing on? I'm guessing it's stringed but you play it like an xylophone?
Hi Alvin that looks like a hammered dulcimer. You "usually" play it with small felt hammers. It has a wonderful delicate, almost "oriental" sound. I notice that this gentleman's hammers are definitely not felt. I wonder how that affects the sound?

Salt is right Alvin, It is a hammered dulcimer. the hammers he is using are a very light brass. the sound is the same but he says he doesn't have to strike the strings as hard. The sound is lovely and light and very relaxing.

Now here are two more shots with the M 50mm f1.7 taken at 200 ISO and f11 with a 1/800th sec.

This is about a 75% crop.

I hope this proves the lenses worth. I think it's great lens but the A 50mm f1.4 is the better lens.

These are from the Ricoh I won recently on ebay. They are both at 1.4
