Yet again, you have shown what beautiful places there are in the world. Had I still been living in Europe I would make this as top 3. Mind you, #6 shows how busy that place really is - look at all the cars?

#8 is a true Simfonia - look at all the boats in a row and the name on the first one - Symphony - I thought it was funny.

I was there first week of July and there were plenty of free apartments, but I don't know how it is in August, since Italians have "Ferrogosto" in August.
You can check on this site - people there are all very nice.
Apartments - island Korcula Croatia Accommodation Korcula apartment A Korcula apartment B Korcula studio-apartment Korcula Pension Korcula pension Korcula apartments Korcula apartments Korcula Apartments Korcula
They have different beaches - if you prefer sand beaches, you should check the beach "Pržina", near Lumbarda, the eastern part of island.
If you prefer more intime places, you'll need car and time for discover the island. You can find some nice places near Korcula town to the west or even more on the south-west.
There you can find a lot of apartments also, but I don't know if they are private or public.. I was in the apartment near town Korcula and discovered the whole island with car.
I hope you will enjoy your vacations..
