Another lovely, diverse series Norm. Well taken. How is the hip recovery going, if you don't mind me asking?

Not so good at the moment. IN 1994 I had an MRI which found a previously undiagnosed tear in my ACL. I'm heading in to emergency this morning after a conversation with telehealth last night. I'm pretty sure the partially torn ACL has become a completely torn ACL, as an unintended consequence of the hip replacement. SO the hip replacement is doing fine, but as a whole, things are pretty brutal. I count my good days right now based on the amount of sleep I get without the aid of pain killers. Last night that was 4 hours, which in my current state is wonderful, but compared to where I'd like to be, not even close.

I hope you really wanted to know and weren't just being polite.

I Know , I know, in the future, just say "fine".

It took 50 years to have to pay for being a football star.... but the payment has come due.

I toughed out the initial tear when I was 16. I didn't miss a game, this is not different, just longer.

Nope, genuine concern. I'm only polite with family. A speedy recovery to you mate. Take care of yourself.

They couldn't find any reason for the pain I'm experiencing that's the bad news. She poked and prodded and twisted and turned and everything to seems to be quite sound, no pain at the time of stress, but it starts 10 minutes after wards. So a real mystery as to what's going on. As long as the knee is still sound, theres a chance therapy will fix it.

Yes, I originally went to have the orthopaedic guy see the my knee. It came out pretty good on the MRI and he decided my deteriorating arthritic hip was causing my knee problems. AT some point my hip will be good enough I can start therapy on it. But right now I have to rehab my hip. And my knee is going to continue to be what it is.

I'm hoping to have my exercise restrictions lifted, Sept. 1. If not it will be another month of certain pain after that.

I was dorm host at the Gaelic Arts school in Timmins for two summers. Lots of pipers, drummers and dancers. That's noisey stuff that is. Did they give you a chanter to bring home?

Nope.

But I've got my own.

Now to get some pipes...
Bloody expensive things... just like camera lenses!
Hopefully can get some through my cadet corps.
