Lens: Tokina 90-230mm Camera: Pentax Kx Photo Location: Front yard ISO: 400 Aperture: F5.6

This is my cat, Chloe. Taken in the afternoon sunlight as I got out of the car. I used my Tokina 90-230mm lens at around f/5.6, I think. Not bad for a "trendy" hi-contrast B&W image. Camera was a Pentax K-x DSLR. Comments/Criticisms Welcome

I like it, though I'd say it would probably be even better if the other eye were either fully visible, or covered by the shadow.

Now that you mention it, that would be an improvement! I also think I went too dark... Any way to make it slightly lighter?

If you shot in raw, there should be plenty of dynamic range for you to lift that shadow what pp software do you use?

This was a quick snap (well, as quick as a snap with an old lens can be),so the camera was set to JPEG. I use GIMP, and I'm at a very novice level!

it might be doable using the lasso and brightness tool on the eye. Give it a try!
