Takumar 135 f2.5 bayonet resolution chart dissapointing
Lens: takumar 135 f2.5 bayonet Camera: canon 50d Photo Location: my house ISO: 3200 Aperture: F2.8

75 sharpen and some noise reduction , contrast in LR to try to make it look better. I see a lot of color fringing (CA?) Also does not seem very sharp to me. did i not nail focus? Does this look normal to you guys that own this lens? this is 3200 iso btw.

As a budget lens at the time, plenty of CA is to be expected. That said, I do see plenty of moire in the shot, so the sharpness can't be that bad

Put it on a tripod and shoot it at 100ISO.

What aperture are these at? Wide open will be worse than stopped down

ok. i will do it again. yeah its at 2.8. my tripod is very flimsy so i might have had a bit of motion blur still. ok so where could the moire be coming from? the 50d in raw photo mode? i know the 50d has moire in lower rez, but this is a photo taken from 15mpixels.

Why are you shooting a test chart at 3200iso, especially given the 50d is a fairly old (in digital years) APS body that doesn't have particularly good noise performance?

That said, the Tak Bayonet 135mm doesn't have a great reputation... So yeah, wide open on an average lens at 3200iso on an old digital - I wouldn't be expecting much

If you want sharp from that era, look for a SMC-K 135/f2.5 - it's a totally different beast.

the smc 2.5 is hard to find in my country, i was aware of it. actually i found the f3.5 version regularly but i hesitated due to the speed. i guess i regret getting the takumar bayonet now.

Don't regret getting this lens.
Stop it down a couple of clicks, use a larger hood than the one it comes with,
and keep your back to any strong light source
